About Me : I was born and raised in a small town called Haddonfield, New Jersey just outside of Philadelphia, PA. I come from a large Irish Catholic family with four sisters. Working with, guiding, and helping to mold children has always been a passion of mine. After many years of working in the human service field helping handicapped children and adults, and then helping people plan for their future as a financial advisor, I decided I wanted to go back to school to get my Masters degree and become a teacher. I taught in the Philadelphia school district in 5th grade before coming to teach English in Chuncheon, South Korea in 2011. I love South Korea: the people, the culture, and the children. I love working at KIS and making a difference in the lives of all the children I interact with. Also, I am a sports enthusiast.

About Me : Working with students, I have been constantly amazed by their unfettered brilliance and honesty. As an educator, they can be your harshest critic or your most steadfast support. It is these traits that push my teaching. I grew up the son of a preacher, in a family of four: two sisters and one brother. We lived in many places all over the United States, and it was the many adventures I had growing up that paved the way for me to continually explore. I have a passion for the outdoors and love to sharing that with others. I look forward to a great year working with the amazing students of Cedar Hall.

About Me : I love people. Anything either experiential or intellectual that helps me understand people better or that increases my sense of connectivity, and I am game. In school, the subjects on which I put most of my focus - theatre, music, psychology, philosophy - all in one way or another helped broaden my insight into the manifold ways in which people work - how they express themselves creatively and emotionally (and why), and also how they operate intellectually and what seems to be important to people both individually and collectively within that realm. My curiosity about the human condition has permeated virtually every facet of my life, bringing me to have traveled both independently and academically in 16 different countries by my second year of university, to work in camp settings where I could be involved with people on a face-to-face personal basis, and to gradually find even subjects as history or math whose allure had eluded me prior to be strangely enticing, because ...

    Fir House Assistant
About Me : I unwittingly began my career as an educator at age 17, when I spent the summer leading multi-day canoe trips in the wilderness of Northern Ontario. Teaching moments were everywhere as we paddled and portaged our way across lakes and rivers, and I discovered I had a passion for connecting with children, facilitating their natural curiosity and helping them take on new challenges and push the limits of their abilites. Since that fateful summer, I've obtained a degree in languages, taught ESL in Northern Spain and Southern China, and travelled around the world in pursuit of new knowledge and experience. In my spare time, I love to play sports, work out, surf, and snowboard, and I'm currently deciding on whether I should become a certified teacher or pursue a masters degree in languages.

    Maple House Assistant
About Me : My passion for wandering and adventure stems from my childhood where I traveled from Hesperia, California, my birthplace, to Nevada to Tennessee and ultimately to Trenton, Georgia, with a dash of Maine on the side. I spent my time outside in the woods discovering myself and discovering the wonder that is the world around around me. I entered into college at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA, originally as a nursing major before discovering Outdoor Education and converting to something closer to my heart. This is my first time outside the States, and coming to Korea was a last minute decision but seemed so natural to do. I have the heart of a wanderer and high hopes for this adventure, and so far I haven't been disappointed. My goal is to connect with all that I interact with and hopefully share many more adventures and continue to grow. "Not all those who wander are lost." – J.R.R. Tolkien
