Middle School Division-Wide Faculty

Patrick M. Carroll, Middle School Principal

Patrick Carroll was born in Charleston, SC, USA but most recently worked in Shanghai, China. He holds a Masters in Educational Leadership from George Mason University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from American University, and a Bachelor's degree in Justice from American University. Patrick joined KISJ in 2019-2020. 

I think everyone should read "Mindsets" by Carol Dweck and "An Altar In The World" by Barbara Brown Taylor. 

Outside of school, I most enjoy spending time with my family, reading books, playing board games and watching American football. 

I'm inspired by every new day and the possibilities of tomorrow.

Douglas R. Barringer, Middle School Associate Principal

Douglas Barringer was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in the USA. Most recently, I worked for the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) as an Academic Vice Principal in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. I hold Master degrees in Educational Leadership (K-12) from Gardner Webb University and Human Resources Management, Troy State Montgomery. My Bachelor's degree is in Political Science/English from Alabama State University, Montgomery, Alabama. Douglas joined KISJ in 2019-20.


I think everyone should read "Running With the Horsemen" by Ferrol Sams and "It's Your Ship" by D. Michael Abrashoff.


Outside of school, I enjoy reading, music, sports, traveling and spending time with my family.


I'm inspired by working with great people and seeing the world.

Julia Snider, Instructional Coach

Julia Snider is originally from Sydenham, Ontario, but has more recently taught in both Honduras and Kuwait. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from McGill University and a bachelor’s degree in Education from Queen’s University. Julia joined KISJ in 2017–18.

I think everyone should read… Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner, What is the What by Dave Eggers, and Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… spending time with our son, eating at great restaurants, doing yoga, and spending time outside.

I'm inspired by… people who strive to better themselves, people who choose happiness and to do good in the world, despite facing adversity.

Eric Kunik, MS Counselor 

Eric Kunik was born in Saginaw, Michigan but moved to Phoenix, Arizona after college and joined KISJ from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He holds a Masters of Arts in Education Counseling from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. Eric joined KISJ in 2016.

I think everyone should read… The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell, and The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… spending time with my family, being outdoors, and keeping myself healthy.

I’m inspired by… my son, whose energy never runs out and keeps me young.

Neyda Moulier, MS Counselor 

Neyda Moulier is originally from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. She grew up in Columbia, Maryland, and most recently worked in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She holds a master’s degree in School Counseling from Loyola University Maryland, and a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from the University of Maryland College Park. Neyda joined KISJ in 2017–18. 

I think everyone should read… The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… the holistic practice of yoga, travel photography, exploring diverse cultures, and getting lost in nature.

I’m inspired by… all of the arts, love, compassion, nature, and adventure.

Gregory Watt, MS Librarian

Greg Watt is from Melbourne, Victoria in Australia, but most recently worked in Jiaxing, China. He holds Masters degrees in Library Science and Educational Technology from Charles Sturt University. Greg joined KISJ in 2019-2020. 

I think everyone should read The Fatal Shore by Robert Hughes. 

Outside of school I enjoy playing guitar and reading. 

I'm inspired by anybody that is able to speak more than one language.  

Whitney Little, MS Tech and Learning Coach/Digital Storytelling

Whitney Little is from Raleigh, North Carolina, but most recently worked in Sacramento, California. She holds a master’s degree in Liberal Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a bachelor’s degree in Middle Grades Education from North Carolina State University. Whitney joined KISJ in 2017–18. 

I think everyone should read… Wonder by R.J. Palacio. 

Outside of school, I most enjoy… spending time outdoors, especially by the water. I also enjoy reading, trying new things, and spending time with friends.  

I'm inspired by… witnessing happiness and acts of love from others.

Tatiana Heckles, MS Learning Specialist

Tatiana Heckles is from equal parts Lancaster, Pennsylvania and Livingston, Montana and an Intervention Specialists for the public schools in both states. She had a Bachelors of Science in Education and a Degree in Special Education, both from Millersville University in Pennsylvania. International teaching took her to Venezuela and Shenzhen, China. She joined the KISJ team in 2018 with her chemist husband, Joe Catron. 

She thinks everyone should read. Period. She is currently reading The Worst Hard Times, The Untold Story of the Great American Dustbowl, but will be on to something new next week. There is so much to learn. 

She is inspired by students, young and old.
