Grade 4 Faculty

David Gowryluk, Grade 4

David Gowryluk is from the thriving metropolis of Holland, Manitoba, Canada. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Education and is currently undertaking a master’s degree in Administration. David joined KISJ in 2015-16.

I think everyone should read… I’ll Love You Forever by Robert Munsch.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… biking, jogging, cooking, playing music, singing, traveling, and dreaming of being on the Amazing Race.

I’m inspired by… good food, good music and good people.

Jessica Charvat, Grade 4

Jessica Charvat is from Brighton, Colorado, but grew up in Burbank, California and has most recently worked in Thailand and Myanmar. She holds a master’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from SUNY Buffalo State, and a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and teaching credential from California State University, Northridge. Jessica joined KISJ in 2017–18. 

I think everyone should read… the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld. 

Outside of school, I most enjoy… scuba diving and yoga.

I’m inspired by… Jane Goodall and Lek Chailert: strong, compassionate women who spend their lives speaking for those who do not have a voice of their own.

Kathryn Nolting, Grade 4

Kathryn Nolting is from Kingston, Ontario but most recently worked in Marrakech, Morocco. She has also worked in Barranquilla, Colombia and Okinawa, Japan. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Child and Youth Studies from Brock University and a Bachelors of Education in Primary/Junior from Trent University. Kathryn joined KISJ in 2018. 

I think everyone should read....Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. 

Outside of school, I most enjoy....baking, chocolate making, traveling, and photography. 

I'm inspired by....nature and the people around me. 

Taylor Hensley, Grade 4

Taylor Hensley is from Texarkana, Arkansas in the United States of America, but mostly recently worked in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She holds a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education P-4 from Central Arkansas University. Taylor joined KISJ in 2019-20. 

I think everyone should read "Wonder" by RJ Palacio. Outside of school I most enjoy traveling. 

I am inspired by people who show kindness to others.

Eric Rosenthal, Literacy Specialist Grade 4

Eric Rosenthal is from Kingston, New York, but most recently worked in China. He holds a master’s degree in Education from The College of New Jersey, and a bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, and Rhetoric from Binghamton University. Eric joined KISJ in 2017–18.

I think everyone should read… A Separate Peace by John Knowles and The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. 

Outside of school, I most enjoy… spending time with my family, running, hiking, reading, playing sports and traveling. 

I’m inspired by… great stories, camping trips, my students and other teachers.
