Grade 2 Faculty


Tessaly Cameron, Grade 2

Tess Cameron is from the Comox Valley in British Columbia, Canada but most recently worked in Shanghai, China. She holds a Bachelor of Education Degree and a Bachelor of Arts Degree, both from Vancouver Island University. Tess joined KISJ in 2018. 


I think everyone should read..."Have You Filled a Bucket Today? - A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids", written by Carol McCloud. 


Outside of school, I most enjoy...spending time outdoors, specifically hiking, mountain biking and kayaking. 


I'm inspired by...my students when their eyes light up the first time they "get it!"



Brandon Lopez, Grade 2 

Brandon Lopez is from Miller Place, New York, but most recently worked in Washington, D.C., U.S.A. He holds a master’s degree in Special Education from St. Joseph’s College, and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from State University of New York at Cortland. Brandon joined KISJ in 2018. 


I think everyone should read… The Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling as well as “The Lorax” by Dr. Seuss. 


Outside of school, I most enjoy… playing the drums, surfing, fishing, golfing, and tennis. 


I’m inspired by... music!




Joshua Kurtis Perry, Grade 2

Joshua “Kurt” Perry was born and raised in Joplin, Missouri.  He has been working with youths for 12 years via teaching, outdoor instruction, sleepaway camp, coaching, and afterschool programs.  He has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Missouri Southern State University. He joined KIS in 2017.


I think everyone should read…Into the Wild and Eiger Dreams by Jon Krakeaur


Outside of school I most enjoy...Spending time hiking and being outside with friends, family, and my partner Ms.C.  Watching and talking American Football with anyone that is willing to watch and/or talk about it (Go Chiefs!!). I also enjoy playing team sports, rock climbing, and weightlifting.


I’m inspired by...My Grandfather aka Papa.  He was a man of the highest character. He did his best to instil patience, good judgment, and work ethic into our day to day lives.  A true mans man and a gentle soul.



Jordanna Morrison, Grade 2

Jordanna Morrison is from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, but most recently worked in Beijing, China. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Primary/Junior Education from the Schulich School of Education (Nipissing University), as well as a bachelor’s degree in Contemporary Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University. Jordanna joined KISJ in 2017–18.


I think everyone should read… Matilda by Roald Dahl.

Outside of the classroom, I most enjoy… spending time with friends, hanging out with my dog, playing The Sims, and traveling—a combination of any of these activities is a guaranteed good time. 

I’m inspired by… children’s endless and resilient thirst for discovery and adventure.



Kelly Retzlaff, Literacy Specialist Grade 2

Kelly Meredith is originally from Colorado, but most recently worked in Croatia and Qatar. She holds a master's degree in Education with a focus in ELL from the University of Missouri and a bachelor's degree in Human Development with a focus in Early Childhood Education from Colorado State University. Kelly joined KISJ in 2018. 

I think everyone should read "Wonder" by RJ Palacio and "A Man Called Ove" by Fredrik Backman. 

Outside of school I most enjoy cooking, reading, being outdoors, and traveling. 

I'm inspired by positivity, kindness, and the ability to have fun in any situation!
