Cody Comerford, Grade 5

Cody Comerford is from Eagle, Colorado. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science and teaching credential from Loyola Marymount University. Cody joined KISJ in 2015-16.

I think everyone should read… The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… being active. I tend to be labeled a gym rat, but like living an active lifestyle.

I’m inspired by… the beauty in the world.




Baya Khodja, Grade 5

Baya Khodja is from near Manchester in the U.K, but has lived and taught in South Korea for many years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies from Sheffield University and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from The College of New Jersey. Baya joined KISJ in 2016-17.

I think everyone should read… Danny, Champion of the World by Roald Dahl and Shipping Out by David Foster Wallace.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… discovering and sharing old records, and camping with friends and family.

I’m inspired by… music, nature, and people passionate about their craft.


Dianne Johnston-Watt, Grade 5

 

Dianne Johnston-Watt is from Melbourne, Victoria/Australia, but most recently worked in Jiaxing/China. She holds a master's degree in Education from Murdoch University, and a bachelor's degree in Literature/Asian Studies from Murdoch University. Dianne joined KISJ in 2019-20. 


I think everyone should read "Dogs Don't Tell Jokes" by Louis Sachar. 


Outside of school, I most enjoy live music and theatre performances. 


I'm inspired by children who ask thoughtful questions.



Nathan Pownall, Grade 5

Nathan Pownall is from Phoenix, Arizona, USA, but most recently worked in Suwon, South Korea. He holds a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University, and a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. Nathan joined KISJ in 2019-2020. 

I think everyone should read Band of Brothers by Stephen E. Ambrose because the book shows when working with a team anything is possible. 

Outside of school, I most enjoy spending time with my family at a Disneyland Theme Park, at the gym, hiking, or watching football. I’m inspired by my boys to keep that sense of wonder and excitement about life.  


Madeleine Fivaz, Literacy Specialist Grade 5


Madeleine Fivaz is from Virginia, Free State, South Africa.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Movement Science from the University of the Free State, and completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Education through the University of South Africa.  Madeleine joined KISJ in 2017.

I think everyone should read... for a chance to be inspired.

Outside of school, I most enjoy... traveling to unknown places, camping next to the ocean, hiking through untouched nature, and paddle boarding on open water.  I also enjoy being in good company, having fun and watching movies.

I’m inspired by...an act of kindness in a sea of humanity.
