Ben Wilkins, High School Principal

Ben Wilkins is from Indianapolis, Indiana. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Master of Arts in Teaching,  and holds an administrator’s licence. Ben joined KISJ in 2013.


I think everyone should read… The Snow Leopard by Peter Matthiessen.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… playing squash or golf with friends, traveling with my wife, and taking photos.

I’m inspired by… the unknown.


Mary O’Bryon Jones, Associate HS Principal and AP Coordinator

Mary O’Bryon Jones is from Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA, but most recently worked in Bangkok, Thailand. She holds a master’s degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University, a post-graduate certificate in Educational leadership from Hood College, and a bachelor’s degree in Art and French from James Madison University. Mary joined KISJ in 2019-20. 


I think everyone should read… “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll, “The Adventures is Huckleberry Finn” by Mark Twain, “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein, and “Oh The Places You’ll Go!” By Dr. Seuss. 


Outside of school, I most enjoy reading, hiking, yoga, painting, dancing, traveling, meeting new friends and learning about different cultures. 


I’m inspired by the sun, the wind. and the rain, each moment of lives offers infinite possibilities... carpe diem!




Phaedra Kunik, College Counselor

Phaedra Kunik is from Indiana, and has lived in Arizona, Athens, Dubai, and Kuala Lumpur. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Manchester College and a master’s degree in School Counseling from Ottawa University. Phaedra joined KISJ in 2016.


I think everyone should read… The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… spending time with my family, watching films, baking, and eating delicious food.

I’m inspired by… my husband, my son, and by nature’s beauty.




William Watter, College Counselor

William Watter is from Washington, D.C., but most recently worked in Beijing and New York City. He holds a master’s degree in School Counseling and a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from St. John’s University. William joined KISJ in 2017–18.


I think everyone should read… Friday Night Lights by H.G. Bissinger.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… coaching and playing sports, eating great food, listening to podcasts, and watching movies.

I'm inspired by… good people doing noble things.




Tyler Echols, Grade 10 Counselor

Tyler Echols is from Nashville, Tennessee but most recently worked in Melbourne, Australia. He holds a master’s degree from Monash University and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Tyler joined KISJ in 2017–18.

I think everyone should read… World War Z by Max Brooks.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… running and NFL football.

I’m inspired by… the creativity and courage of others.




Victoria Pineiro, Grade 9 Counselor

Victoria Pineiro is from Saint Paul, Minnesota, but has spent her most recent years in New Mexico and Honduras. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders and a master’s degree in Professional School Counseling (K–12) from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

I think everyone should read… When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… coffee shop culture, great films, and spending time outdoors.

I’m inspired by… the energy and passion of performance and visual art, and those awesome individuals bringing such art to life.





Michelle Cave, High School Librarian

Michelle Cave is from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Government from the University of Queensland, a Graduate Diploma in Education from the Queensland University of Technology, a TEFL-C from Columbia University, and is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Information and Library Studies at Curtin University. Michelle joined KISJ in 2014.


I think everyone should read… My Place by Sally Morgan.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… traveling and seeing new places with new experiences, photography, hiking, swimming, and playing softball.

I’m inspired by… random acts of kindness—one person can make a difference.
