Neil Barnum is from Central Iowa. He holds a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Northern Iowa, and a teaching certification in Social Sciences. Neil joined KISJ in 2015.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… hiking, fishing, tabletop computer gaming, and playing sports.

I’m inspired by… breathtaking vistas.

James Dines, Athletic Director

James Dines is from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of New Mexico. James joined KISJ in 2012.


I think everyone should read… The Music Lesson by Victor Wooten.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… spending time with family, golf and playing guitar.

I’m inspired by… the words of Socrates, “The only true wisdom is in knowing that you know nothing.” The idea that there is a world of possibilities if you allow yourself to see, analyze and act on them, guides my actions each day.

Barbara Henry, Strings Instructor

Barbara Henry is from Port Townsend, Washington. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Central Washington University, a master’s degree in Education from Walden University, and is close to completing a master’s degree in Music Education at Boston University. Barbara joined KISJ in 2015.

I think everyone should read… music. Music notation opens up a whole world of musical experience and pleasure.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… playing my violin in a symphony or chamber ensemble, traveling, cooking, and baking.

I’m inspired by… adults who choose to learn something new. “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”

Jolene Lockwood, Director of Teaching and Learning

Jolene Lockwood is from the U.S. and has lived in Wyoming, Texas, California, Indiana, Washington, Nebraska, and Colorado. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Literacy from Indiana University in Kokomo, and a master’s degree in International and Intercultural Communications from Denver University. Jolene is certified as an Agency Trainer for Cognitive Coaching, and joined KISJ in 2016.


I think everyone should read… Orbiting the Giant Hairball by Gordon Mackenzie. This little book is full of metaphorical magic and humor and shows us how to imagine and dream beyond the mundane.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… paddle boarding, white water rafting, hiking, reading and pondering…what might be next?

I’m inspired by… kindness, courage, laughter, humility, integrity, wonder and awe.

Dana Sherwood, Aquatics Director

Dana Sherwood is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Aquatics, a bachelor’s degree in Education, a master’s degree in Special Education, and over 10 active certifications with the American Red Cross and other health and safety organizations. Dana is currently undertaking a doctorate in Educational Leadership, and joined KISJ in 2013.


I think everyone should read… Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… ocean swimming, biking, hiking, and art.

I’m inspired by… this quote from Jimmy Dean, “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination.”

Nadia Sinitskaya, Choral Instructor

Nadia Sinitskaya is from Moscow, Russia. She holds a master’s degree in Choral Conducting from the Moscow State Musical Pedagogical Institute n.a. M. M. Ippolitov-Ivanov.


I think everyone should read… Jules Verne, Jack London, Alexandre Dumas, short stories by Anton Chekhov and The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… the beauty of nature and outside activities.

I’m inspired by… talented artists, musicians, writers, actors and their masterpieces.

Amos Stamp-Jerabek, Director of Human Resources, Professional Learning, and Student Affairs

Amos Stamp-Jerabek is from many places, notably Prague and Liverpool. He holds a Master of Education in International Counseling from Lehigh University, a Professional Certification in Secondary Social Studies from The College of New Jersey, a master’s degree in Social Policy from the University of York, and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Liverpool Hope University. Amos is a doctoral student in Mind, Brain and Teaching at Johns Hopkins University, and was a founding member of KISJ in 2011.


I think everyone should read… The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach.

Outside of school, I most enjoy… doing instead of having, and running.

I’m inspired by… John Dewey’s words, “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.”

Chris Walden-Jones is from Tempe and Tucson, Arizona. He holds a master’s degree in Educational Technology from Northern Arizona University, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Arizona. Chris joined KISJ in 2015.
