We are a community of learners who strive to create an emotionally safe and engaging environment while delivering high-quality English language instruction with an American standards-based curriculum.
We’re now fourteen years into our experiment and incredibly proud of the outcome.
The Elementary School is a learning community that encourages students to work together, develop compassion, and to actively contribute. Our students are empowered to work and support each other through play and academics, while maintaining positive behavior. Learning within an international community, our students also build the social skills and relationships that are necessary in an ever-changing world.
Middle school is the ideal opportunity for young adolescents to explore who they are and how they fit into the world. Through the iterative process, students will come to an understanding of who they are as learners, what they’re passionate about and ultimately how they will contribute to a better tomorrow
Synergetic collaboration and creativity are hallmarks of our High School. Transformative thinking and the ability to thrive in challenging circumstances will distinguish KISJ graduates.
Our dorm staff truly love working with students and are committed to building a community where everyone feels happy, safe, and included. It’s important to us that dorm students have opportunities throughout the year to acquire new interests and skills, pursue their passions, and connect with people from different cultural backgrounds. KISJ has a team of dedicated ELL specialists who collaborate with other teachers to co-plan, co-teach, co-assess, and co-reflect in order to support the needs of our language learners across all domains of language (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).

Our KIS Jeju students got a front-row seat to the future of mobility and sustainable energy! ⚡🌱 From March 24–26, a group of science and engineering enthusiasts attended the 13th International e-Mobility Expo at Jeju Shinhwa World, volunteering 🤝 while also joining major forum sessions. They helped with visitor guidance, coordination, and interpretation for international participants — all while exploring cutting-edge innovations in EVs, batteries, renewable energy, and smart mobility. 🚗🔋🌍 Highlights included the Global Sustainable Energy (Battery/Dispersion) Business SRT Forum, where students learned from experts about the global shift toward carbon-neutral mobility and emerging battery technologies. 💡 Event organizers praised the students for their engagement, noting that youth participation is key to nurturing the next generation of sustainable tech innovators. From March 26–28, the KISJ High School Theater Department brought 1984: An Expressionist Play to life in four unforgettable, sold-out performances. 👁️🗨️🎭✨ As KISJ High School’s first-ever theater-in-the-round production, audiences were fully immersed—stepping into the world of Oceania 🌍 and engaging with the action like never before. 🔄👀 After three months of dedication since January 📅, our cast and crew transformed an ambitious vision into a powerful, thought-provoking experience 💭🔥. Our JK–Grade 1 students had the most wonderful time celebrating the Lunar New Year. Learning from the Experts — Right Here on Jeju Island Our Grade 5 students had an extraordinary experience last month when Mi Yeon Kim from Marine Animal Research & Conservation joined us as a guest speaker, bringing the waters of Jeju Island right into our classroom. Ms. Kim shared her groundbreaking research on Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphins in Jeju waters, shining a light on how human activity is impacting one of the ocean's most beloved species. Our students listened, questioned, and engaged in passionate discussions about the real consequences of plastic pollution on dolphin ecology, happening right here, in the waters surrounding the island we call home. 🏝️ This visit couldn't have come at a better time. Our G5 learners are deep into their Literacy Unit "Protecting Earth: Plastic Pollution," and hearing directly from a marine researcher brought their learning to life in a way that no textbook ever could. When students realize that the issues they are studying are unfolding in their own backyard, something shifts. Curiosity becomes conviction. Learning becomes purpose. 💙 Our Grade 5 students are already asking big questions. Our incredible Kindergarteners showed what it means to be a community at the KISJ Elementary Hot Chocolate Café last month ☕️🍪 These amazing little bakers rolled up their sleeves, measured ingredients, stirred batter, and created delicious cookies completely from scratch! But this was so much more than baking… it was a lesson in kindness, teamwork, and coming together for something bigger than ourselves. Every cup of hot chocolate served and every cookie sold helped raise money for a charitable cause — a beautiful reminder that even the smallest hands can make the biggest difference. 💛 Watching our Kindergarteners beam with pride as they served their community was one of those moments that reminds us why community matters.
