Grade 4 Faculty

 

 

Benjamin Pine, Grade 4 

 

Benjamin Pine is from Kaipara, New Zealand, but most recently worked in Porto Alegre Brazil. He holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the Auckland University of Technology in Auckland. Benjamin joined KISJ in 2022.

 

I think everyone should read The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy.

 

Outside of school, I most enjoy spending time outdoors, exploring nature and taking opportunities for adventure. I try to inspire my creative side and balance life with solid friendships.

 

I am inspired by people who are passionate about what they do. I believe we have just as much to learn from the generations who will follow us as the generations who have gone before us.

 

 

Jamie Sullivan, Grade 4

 

Jamie is from Vernon, British Columbia, Canada but most recently worked in Kuwait. She has a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lethbridge. Jamie joined KISJ in 2022.

 

I think everyone should read Frindle by Andrew Clements and The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.

 

Outside of school, I most enjoy swimming, spending time outdoors, reading and being with friends and family.

 

I'm inspired by my family, friends, kindness, and trying new things.

 

 

Erin Carney, Grade 4

 

Erin Carney is from Madison, Wisconsin, but most recently worked in Dalian, China and Bahrain. She holds a master’s degree in International Education from Endicott College, and has bachelor’s degrees in International Relations and Elementary Education from Beloit College and University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Erin joined KISJ in 2022. 

 

I think everyone should read Love That Dog by Sharon Creech. 

 

Outside of school, I most enjoy baking and crafting with recyclable materials. 

 

I’m inspired by artisans who keep traditional crafts alive.

 

 

Chris Pasquale, Grade 4

 

Chris Pasquale is originally from Anchorage, Alaska, but has spent most recent years in Bellingham, Washington. He holds a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Governor’s University, and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Biology from Viterbo University. Chris joined KISJ in 2022.

 

I think everyone should read Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins and The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.

 

Outside of school, I most enjoy trail runs, family adventures, and trying new foods.

 

I’m inspired by my wife and parents. People who set their own standards of excellence and keep pushing themselves.

 

 

Kathryn Nolting, Literacy Specialist Grade 4

Kathryn Nolting is from Kingston, Ontario but most recently worked in Marrakech, Morocco. She has also worked in Barranquilla, Colombia and Okinawa, Japan. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Child and Youth Studies from Brock University and a Bachelors of Education in Primary/Junior from Trent University. Kathryn joined KISJ in 2018. 

I think everyone should read Kafka on the Shore by Haruki Murakami. 

Outside of school, I most enjoy baking, chocolate making, traveling, and photography. 

I'm inspired by nature and the people around me. 

 

(Min) Minyoung Kang, Teaching Assistant Grade 4

Min was born in Daegu, Korea. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Textile Design from Keimyung University, and a certificate in AAS from Houston Community College, USA.

Min joined KISJ in 2017.

I think everyone should read The Present by Spencer Johnson.

Outside of school, I most enjoy traveling, finding a good place to visit for a nice view.

I’m inspired by positive people, good food, and beautiful weather.
