I think everyone should read anything that helps you understand the past and how humans came to be the way we are now. I’m particularly interested in 19th-century Russia and ancient cultures from Europe and the Middle East.

Outside of school, I most enjoy sports and all sorts of media: I listen to music any free moment I have, and enjoy discovering new shows, books, comics, or movies. I’ve played hockey my whole life, and have studied Kumdo since moving to Korea.

I’m inspired by anything that is strange, unique, or different.

Audra Skartvedt, Grade 3

Audra is from Story City, Iowa, USA, but most recently worked in Alexandria, Virginia, USA. She holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with ESL and Spanish endorsements from Iowa State University. Audra joined KISJ in 2018.

I think everyone should read Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery and Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

Outside of school, I most enjoy going to the movies, cycling, doing yoga, and eating at good restaurants.

I’m inspired by people who take great risks to achieve social justice, stepping out of my comfort zone, optimism, and cooking shows!

Heather Greenfield, Grade 3

Heather Greenfield is originally from northern Utah, but has most recently worked in Shanghai China. She holds a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Weber State University and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Weber State University. Heather joined KISJ in 2019.

I think everyone should read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling.

Outside of school, I most enjoy reading, hiking, walking on beaches, and traveling with my daughter.

I'm most inspired by perseverance - I'm impressed by people who work to improve themselves, their situation, and the world around them.

Jenny Pham, Grade 3

Jenny is from New Orleans, Louisiana in the US, but most recently worked in Busan, South Korea. She holds a master’s degree in Education and a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Chemistry, both from Louisiana State University. Jenny joined KISJ in 2021.

I think everyone should read The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Outside of school, I most enjoy doing yoga, cooking for my friends and family, and being in nature.

I’m inspired by my colleagues, whose dedication and passion for their craft motivates me to be a better version of myself everyday.

Jeong Min Park (Grace), Teaching Assistant Grade 3

Jeongmin Park (Grace) is from Korea. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of Tasmania.

I think everyone should read Shakespeare’s plays that were produced between 1589 and 1613. For example, Hamlet, Twelfth night, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Othello.

Outside of school, I mostly enjoy playing snooker, ukulele, traveling, and hanging out with my friends.

I am inspired by my parents as they have made me understand what life is about and helped me to find happiness in my life.
