Korean Language and Social Studies Faculty

 

 

Gyeong-a Lee (Raina), Korean Language

Gyeong-A Lee is from Jeju, Korea. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Korean Language and Literature from Jeju National University, and joined KISJ in 2014.

I think everyone should read The Little Prince  by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Outside of school, I most enjoy watching movies and traveling.

I’m inspired by Carlo Goldoni’s words, “The world is a beautiful book, but of little use to him who cannot read it.”

 

Gyoyeon Nam (Elena), Korean Language

Gyo yeon Nam  is from Daegu, Korea. She holds a double bachelor’s degree in Korean Language and Literature from Jeju  National University, and joined KIS in 2022.

I think everyone should read My Sweet Orange Tree by J.M de Vasconcelos. 

Outside of school,  I most enjoy Jazz dancing  and going to the gym.

I’m inspired by the Latin word "Carpe diem”. “Carpe diem” means seize the day.

 

Sull-a Kim (Sarah), Korean Language and Social Studies

Sull-a Kim  is from Seoul, Korea. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Gyeongin National University of Education, and mostly worked in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do.  She joined KIS Jeju in 2022. 

I think everyone should read 1984  by George Orwell and Grit by Angela Duckworth.

Outside of school, I most enjoy yoga, reading, traveling and learning new languages.

I’m inspired by people from all around the world.  

 

 

 

Kyunghoon Cha, Korean Social Studies

Kyunghoon Cha is from Jeju, Korea. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education  from Jeju National University, and joined KIS Jeju in 2017.

I think everyone should read Samgukji (Romance of the three kingdoms) by Kwanjung Na. 

Outside of school, I most enjoy playing with my family.

 I’m inspired by books that have a positive effect.




 

Jiyun Kim (Yunny), Korean Social Studies

Jiyun Kim is from Jeju, Korea. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education and Ethics Education from Jeju National University. Jiyun Kim  joined KIS Jeju in 2022. 

 

I think everyone should read… Walden by Henry David Thoreau 

 

Outside of school, I most enjoy traveling, watching movies and reading. 

 

I’m inspired by the quote ‘To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; …… To know even one life has breathed easier, because you have lived; This is to have succeeded.’

 

Seonhee Yoon (Sunny),  Korean as a Foreign Language

Sunny Yoon is from Jeju, Korea. She holds a Master’s degree in English Education from Sogang University, and joined KIS Jeju in 2020. This is her 11th year in the field of education.

Outside of school, I spend most of my time with my family and friends. 

I’m inspired by Great Nature such as Oceans, Oreums and Mountains. Also the quote from Jane Goodall ‘Only if we understand, will we care. Only if we care, will we help. Only if we help, we shall all be saved.’
