Patrick M. Carroll
School Director
Patrick Carroll was born in Charleston, South Carolina in the United States. Prior to joining KISJ, Mr. Carroll had worked in Shanghai, China. Mr. Carroll has a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from George Mason University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from American University, and a Bachelor degree in Justice from American University. Mr. Carroll joined KISJ in the 2019-2020 school year.
Mr. Carroll would recommend that everyone read “Mindsets” by Carol Dweck and “An Altar In The World” by Barbara Brown Taylor.
Outside of school, Mr. Carroll enjoys spending time with his family, reading books, playing board games and watching American football.
Mr. Carroll is inspired by every new day and the possibilities of tomorrow.

Ms. Hoult would recommend that everyone read “Humankind: A Hopeful History” by Rutger Bregman.
Outside of school, Ms. Hoult enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, participating in a pilates or pottery class and eating or cooking great food!
Ms. Hoult is inspired by people who work to help others succeed and those who are willing to step outside of their comfort zones, reflect, learn and grow.

Mr. Hipkins would recommend that everyone read “The Lord of the Rings” by J.R.R. Tolkien.
Outside of school, Mr. Hipkins enjoys designing and printing 3-D models, cooking, brewing, following baseball, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Hipkins is inspired by the miracle that is this amazing universe, a really good cup of coffee, those who do the right thing even when it's not popular, and especially his wife and kids who bring him immense joy.

He believes everyone should read Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass by Frederick Douglass.
Outside of school, Bill spends his time outdoors with his family, fishing, surfing, and hiking, making the most of everything Jeju has to offer. His other passion is Jiu-Jitsu, which he also shares with his family. He especially enjoys running the school’s Jiu-Jitsu club, where he teaches middle and high school students. Through Jiu-Jitsu, he helps students push past their limits, overcome real challenges, and develop strength and resilience that extends beyond the mat.
Bill is inspired by underdogs—those who rise above expectations, defy the odds, and show the power of persistence.

Outside of school, I most enjoy cheering for the Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers, and Green Bay Packers; playing basketball, riding mops, bicycling, traveling, and trying new/strange food.

Ms. Shin would recommend that everyone read “Living, Loving and Learning” by Leo F. Buscaglia. She was impressed by its insights on education, people, and learning. A line that Ms. Shin remembers the most is “Love yourself, accept yourself, forgive yourself, and be good to yourself, because without you, we would all lose many wonderful things.”
Outside of school, Ms. Shin enjoys walking with her family, reading, and drawing.
Ms. Shin is inspired by people who can see beauty and deep meaning in even the smallest things.
